Run, Jury! Run!

Movie Review: Runaway Jury

Casts:
Dustin Hoffman
Gene Hackman
Rachel Weisz
John Cusack

Well, another trial movie. I'd give it 3.75 out of 5. It's okay.

Basically it's about gun control in the US. Dustin Hoffman represented a woman whose husband was shot and killed by a co-worker in his office. The co-worker could obtain the gun because of lack of distribution control by the gun company. Gene Hackman was someone hired by the gun company to 'fix' the trial by selecting certain people for the jury so that in the end the verdict would benefit the gun company. He looked at the people's background and decide whether those people would in the end decide the most beneficial verdict.

John Cusack was one of the people selected to become the jury for the trial. Rachel Weisz was his girlfriend. Apparently there were more to John Cusack and Rachel Weisz than just original citizens of the US of A. Cusack and Weisz claimed to Hoffman and Hackman that they have the other members of the jury in their 'influence' and that if either of them want the verdict to turn out the way they wanted, Hoffman and Hackman must pay them US$10 million. Soon a struggle between Cusack, Weisz, and Hackman ensued in attempting to tighten their grips around the members of the jury.

The acting was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary, a bit above standard, but not by much.

That's all I could say for now. Yes, of course there's a plot twist. It's been like that lately in movies. Quite recommended for those who like trial/law movies, and for a-little-more-than-simple entertainment.
